How to use the Kids Bible

What the Kids Bible is, how the reading levels work, and how "Read the Story" differs from "Read the Bible".

Two ways to read

Every story has two clearly separate modes. "Read the Story" is a retelling written for children by BibleKenya. It simplifies the words but keeps to what the passage says, without adding events, speeches or miracles.

"Read the Bible" opens the actual passage in the Bible edition you have chosen in the BibleKenya reader. The retelling is never labelled as the KJV, WEB or any other Bible translation.

Reading levels

Ages 4–6 (Early learners): short sentences meant to be read aloud with an adult. Ages 7–9 (Growing readers): fuller retellings with the passage shown on every scene. Ages 10–12 (Bible explorers): the same retelling plus a short note on each scene and study questions.

The levels are a guide only. Choose what suits your child; you can switch level at any time on the story page. No birth date or account is ever asked for.

Pictures

The pictures are simple drawings made by BibleKenya. They are artistic impressions, not records of how people or places looked; the Bible rarely describes appearance.

Listening

"Listen" uses your device's built-in text-to-speech voice when one is available. It is a computer voice, not a recorded reader, and it is labelled that way. Its pronunciation of Kiswahili and other Kenyan languages may be poor.
