Talking about hard parts of the Bible
Some Bible stories include death, violence or injustice. How the Kids Bible handles them, and how to talk about them with children.
What we do
Stories with difficult content are marked "Sensitive: read with an adult", and the note explains what the passage contains. The pictures never show injury or death.
We do not invent happier endings or remove events from Scripture. The Early learners retelling may leave a difficult detail unsaid; the explorer note and this content note name it honestly.
Talking together
Read the passage yourself first. Answer questions simply and truthfully, and it is fine to say, "That is hard, and I am still thinking about it too."
Point to what the passage itself emphasises: God's care for his people, the seriousness of evil, and his mercy.
When to wait
You know your child. It is fine to choose another story and come back to a hard one when your child is older.
