Lesson guide: Loving our neighbours
The Good Samaritan and Ruth: kindness to people who were strangers or outsiders.
What the passages say
Jesus told the parable to answer "Who is my neighbour?" and ended, "Go and do likewise" (Luke 10:29, 10:37). Boaz showed kindness to Ruth, a foreigner, and she showed loyalty to Naomi (Ruth 1:16; 2:8-12).
Activity
Play "The Good Samaritan in order". Talk about who in the story was surprising, and why (John 4:9 explains that Jews and Samaritans did not usually mix).
