Lesson guide: Easter
A one-session plan for "Jesus Dies and Rises Again", with care for younger children.
This guide covers the crucifixion.
Before you start
This story includes Jesus' death on the cross. The pictures show only crosses on a hill and a dark sky. Read Luke 23-24 yourself first.
Plan
1. Read the story at the children's level. 2. Read Luke 24:1-8 from the Bible. 3. Play "Easter in order". 4. Talk about how the disciples' sadness turned into great joy (Luke 24:52).
Questions children ask
If a child asks why Jesus died, the Bible gives several answers, for example that "Christ died for our sins" (1 Corinthians 15:3). Answer simply and point to the passage.
