Context
Jesus encourages persistent prayer, and in the verses that follow (7:9-11) compares God to a father who gives good gifts to his children.
Read it in its setting. Jesus teaches confidence that the Father gives good things to those who ask (Luke 11:13 names the Holy Spirit). It is not a promise that every request will be granted as asked.
