New Testament Families
The families of Jesus, John the Baptist, the sons of Zebedee, Peter and Andrew, Martha, Mary and Lazarus, and Timothy.
The New Testament names several households: Zechariah and Elizabeth with their son John; Zebedee's sons James and John; the brothers Simon Peter and Andrew; Martha, Mary and Lazarus at Bethany; and Timothy's grandmother Lois and mother Eunice. Luke 1:5–13Matthew 4:21John 1:40–42John 11:1–52 Timothy 1:5
Family language is also used for faith. Paul calls Timothy "my true child in faith", and Jesus calls those who do God's will his brother, sister and mother. Those ties are shown as spiritual, never as genealogy. 1 Timothy 1:2Mark 3:33–35
